Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed by the MDC in Hartford as a constructioninspector for 25 years. He later served the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong> as the Highway Superintendentfrom 1980-1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran <strong>of</strong> the Korean War, a former member andTreasurer <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Burlington</strong> Fire Department. He was a member <strong>of</strong> the United States NavyLeague, Charter member <strong>of</strong> the South Street Seaport Museum in New York, a member <strong>of</strong> andvolunteer at the Mystic Seaport in Mystic, and a member <strong>of</strong> the World Ship Society. Besides hiswife and mother, he is survived by his two children, Karen E. Jewett <strong>of</strong> New York City, NY andFrederick E. Jewett <strong>of</strong> Plainville; and two grandchildren, Taylor Jewett and Ashlea Jewett, both<strong>of</strong> Harwinton. He was predeceased by his sister, Sarah Jewett. Buried in Center Cemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong>, CT.JONES HIRAM A. died (1883, 6-14-1908), after an illness <strong>of</strong> a few days from appendicitisand after an operation had been performed. The young man lived at the home <strong>of</strong> his parents,Mr. & Mrs. Frank Jones on the Nepaug road and he is survived by his parents and one youngsister Sarah.
