Minimum Number of Credits Required for Instruction in theMajor and for the DegreeUMUC requires students to complete 120 semester hours of creditfor the bachelor’s degree. Regardless of the number of transfercredits they present, students must complete a minimum of 30 creditsat UMUC. As part of that minimum, students must earn at leastone-half of the credits required for the major through gradedcoursework, including at least one course taken through UMUC.Graded coursework does not include credit earned through portfolioassessment, examination, or internship.Grade Level Acceptable for TransferUMUC may accept transfer credits from regionally accreditedtwo- and four-year colleges and universities for courses graded Cor above, if they apply to the student’s curriculum. The grade ofC-minus is not acceptable in transfer.Statement on Transfer of General EducationRequirementsA student who has satisfactorily completed a course identified as ageneral education requirement at a Maryland community collegewill have met UMUC’s general education requirement, as stated inAppendix B. For other students, courses are evaluated on a case-bycasebasis. UMUC has included its evaluation of many Marylandcommunity college courses in its section of the University System ofMaryland’s computerized articulation system (ARTSYS).
