<strong>Maryland</strong> AlliancesAACC–UMUC AllianceIn Anne Arundel County, UMUC <strong>of</strong>fers classes at Anne ArundelCommunity <strong>College</strong>, the Anne Arundel Community <strong>College</strong> Centerat Arundel Mills, the UMUC Annapolis Center, and Fort Meade.Students participating in the Anne Arundel Community <strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> Alliance may completebachelor’s degrees in accounting, business administration, computerand information science, computer science, computer studies, informationsystems management, and management studies.CCC–UMUC AllianceThe Carroll Community <strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong><strong>College</strong> Alliance <strong>of</strong>fers students in Carroll County the ability to usetheir associate’s degree programs as the foundation to complete theirbachelor’s degrees. CCC programs in computer information systems,computer graphics, or computer-aided design are all linked withUMUC’s bachelor’s degree in computer studies. Additionally, articulatedprograms leading to majors in psychology and communicationstudies are available. Carroll County students will find it convenientto complete their programs online.CSM–UMUC AllianceIn Southern <strong>Maryland</strong>, the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Southern <strong>Maryland</strong> and<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> have formed the CSM–UMUC Alliance. The Waldorf Center for Higher Education <strong>of</strong>fersstudents a state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art education facility. Instructional technology(including computer labs), instructional television, and distancelearning capabilities support the academic programs <strong>of</strong> both institutions.Coordinated student and academic services are available at theCenter. Students also may be admitted to the alliance at any <strong>of</strong>CSM’s and UMUC’s other locations. The articulated programsinclude bachelor’s degrees in accounting, business administration,communication studies, computer and information science, computerscience, computer studies, criminal justice, environmentalmanagement, information systems management, and managementstudies.FCC–UMUC AllianceThe Frederick Community <strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong><strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> Alliance allows students in Frederick County tocomplete both associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in the county. InFrederick County, UMUC <strong>of</strong>fers courses at Frederick Community<strong>College</strong>. FCC associate’s degrees in several disciplines are linkedto the related UMUC bachelor’s degrees in computer and informationscience, computer studies, criminal justice, fire science,information systems management, and psychology.HCC–UMUC AllianceWashington County students will find the Hagerstown Community<strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong> Alliance an idealrelationship as they pursue advanced education. Several articulatedacademic programs, the dual-admission process, and coordinated studentsupport make the transition from associate’s degree to bachelor’sdegree smooth and convenient. HCC programs in business administration,paralegal studies, and computer-related studies lead to bachelor’sdegrees in the same areas at UMUC. Students may participate ininstructional television classes at the community college or completetheir UMUC requirements online.MC–UMUC AllianceThe Montgomery <strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>College</strong>Alliance <strong>of</strong>fers students articulated bachelor’s degree programs inaccounting, biotechnology, business administration, communicationstudies, computer and information science, computer science, computerstudies, information systems management, and managementstudies. Students at the Montgomery <strong>College</strong> campuses in Rockvilleand Germantown may find it most convenient to take UMUCclasses at the <strong>University</strong> System <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> Shady Grove Center,while students at the Montgomery <strong>College</strong> Takoma Park campusmay take advantage <strong>of</strong> UMUC <strong>of</strong>ferings at nearby <strong>College</strong> Park.PGCC–UMUC AllianceStudents in Prince George’s County who participate in the PrinceGeorge’s Community <strong>College</strong>–<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Maryland</strong> <strong>University</strong><strong>College</strong> Alliance may complete their bachelor’s degree in PrinceGeorge’s County at the UMUC sites <strong>of</strong> <strong>College</strong> Park, Andrews AirForce Base, and Prince George’s Community <strong>College</strong>. The curriculainclude articulated bachelor’s degree programs in accounting, businessadministration, communication studies, computer and informationscience, computer studies, information systems management, legalstudies, and management studies. Since the alliance is designed toserve part-time students, most classes are <strong>of</strong>fered in the evening oron weekends.Out-<strong>of</strong>-State CollaborationsUMUC also reaches out to students from community colleges outside<strong>Maryland</strong> who want to complete their bachelor's degree online.It has developed policies on transfer credit and materials that helpcommunity colleges and their students plan for transfer to UMUCto complete the bachelor's degree. Collaborations with communitycolleges nationwide include UMUC assistance in comparison <strong>of</strong>general education requirements and outreach to transferring students.305
