Advance Preparation<br />
In addition <strong>to</strong> the general advance preparation described in the <strong>Program</strong> Leader’s<br />
Resource Guide, you will need <strong>to</strong> do the following:<br />
Pho<strong>to</strong>copy the GAME PLAN Food and Activity Tracker (Appendix J) and the Weekly Pledge<br />
form (Appendix K) (one copy per participant)<br />
If you are able <strong>to</strong> use an overhead projec<strong>to</strong>r, create transparencies from the Portion Dis<strong>to</strong>rtion<br />
quiz questions and answers that you printed out (Appendix T; see instructions in preceding<br />
section). If you are unable <strong>to</strong> create transparencies, text, <strong>Power</strong>Point, and .pdf versions of the quiz<br />
are also available on the Web site (http://hin.nhlbi.nih.gov/portion/). Portion Dis<strong>to</strong>rtion Quizzes<br />
and 2 are also included on the accompanying CD-ROM. The <strong>Power</strong>Point version offers both<br />
the questions and answers in a print-ready format; they are ready <strong>to</strong> hand out as printed (one for<br />
each participant).<br />
Make copies of the Plate Method handout in Appendix T (one copy of each per participant, plus<br />
some extras).<br />
Review Appendix G: Troubleshooting for <strong>Program</strong> Leaders <strong>to</strong> prepare for possible interruptions<br />
or challenges in conducting the session.<br />

Check-In: Pledge and GAME PLAN Food and Activity<br />
Tracker; Barrier Busters<br />
Facilitate a discussion about how group members did with keeping their pledges and<br />
using their Food and Activity Trackers. Also ask about the barriers they have faced since the last<br />
session. Ask for suggestions from group members on how <strong>to</strong> “bust” these barriers.<br />
