Preparing for the Session<br />
Learning Objectives<br />
At the end of this session, participants will be able <strong>to</strong>:<br />
Incorporate healthy eating in<strong>to</strong> daily routines<br />
Substitute more healthful foods for less healthful foods<br />
Materials, Supplies, Handouts, and Equipment<br />
In addition <strong>to</strong> the general materials, supplies, and equipment listed on page and 2 of the<br />
<strong>Program</strong> Leaders Guide, you will need the following:<br />
Appendix J: GAME PLAN Food and Activity Tracker (one copy per participant)<br />
Appendix K: Weekly Pledge form (one copy per participant)<br />
Original Pre– and Post–Session 4 Questionnaires <strong>to</strong> return <strong>to</strong> participants<br />
Post–Session 5 (mid-program) Questionnaire found in Appendix M (one copy per participants,<br />
plus a few extras)<br />
NOTE: Before administering the post-session questionnaire, check with your sponsoring organization regarding<br />
its guidelines on data collection. Your organization or its funding agencies may require clearance of this data<br />
collection and may have special processes for approval.<br />
OPTIONAL: Two helpers <strong>to</strong> assist participants with flling out questionnaires and other tasks<br />
Index cards for writing down recipes (several for each participant)<br />
OPTIONAL: Index cards that each list a designated recipe category (e.g., entree, dessert, salad,<br />
side dish, bread, beverage)<br />
Advance Preparation<br />
In addition <strong>to</strong> the general advance preparation described in the <strong>Program</strong> Leader’s<br />
Resource Guide, you will need <strong>to</strong> do the following:<br />
At the last session you asked participants <strong>to</strong> bring a favorite food and its recipe <strong>to</strong> this session.<br />
Consider sending a reminder <strong>to</strong> participants <strong>to</strong> bring their food items and recipes <strong>to</strong> the class.<br />
Pho<strong>to</strong>copy the GAME PLAN Food and Activity Tracker (Appendix J) and the Weekly Pledge<br />
form (Appendix K) (one copy per participant).<br />
You may wish <strong>to</strong> hand out the NDEP bilingual (English and Spanish) Recipe and Meal Planner<br />
Guide at this session. The booklet, which contains recipes in English and in Spanish, must be<br />
ordered 6 weeks in advance (see the NDEP Publications Order Form in Appendix AC). It can<br />
