Dated atDundee, <strong>the</strong> witnesses being Frederick Lyoune <strong>of</strong> Brigtouu, Peter Young <strong>of</strong> EasterSeatoun, Sir Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong> <strong>of</strong> Blackness, Knight, Doctor Patrick Blair, andThomas Mudye, dean <strong>of</strong> Guild <strong>of</strong> Dundee.By this contract <strong>the</strong> said Robert and Margaret engage to solemnize <strong>the</strong> bond <strong>of</strong> marriage with eacho<strong>the</strong>r ; in contemplation <strong>of</strong> which <strong>the</strong> said Robert becomes bound at Whitsunday, 1648, to lay out onland or annualrent, at <strong>the</strong> sight and advice <strong>of</strong> Lyon <strong>of</strong> Brigtoun, and Peter Young <strong>of</strong> EasterSeatoun, as friends for his part, and <strong>of</strong> Mr. John Fletcher, advo<strong>ca</strong>te, and Mr. Alexander Mylne,minister at Forgoun, as friends for <strong>the</strong> said Margaret, <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> 16,000 merks, with infeftment to himand her in conjunct fee, and <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> marriage heritably ; and <strong>the</strong> said Alexander Mylnebecomes bound, to pay to <strong>the</strong> said Robert <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong> 8000 merks <strong>of</strong> tocher with <strong>the</strong> said Margaret.(One piece <strong>of</strong> paper in good condition.)26. 1657. April 15. —Contract <strong>of</strong> marriage betwixt Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e and HelenLyon.This contract is dated " at Dundie" and made betwixt Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e merchant burgess <strong>of</strong>Dundie and Mrs. Helen Lyon, second lawfull daughter to <strong>the</strong> deceist Mr. Patrick Lyon <strong>of</strong> Carnoustieadvo<strong>ca</strong>t, with advice and consent <strong>of</strong> Jean Alexander, his relict and her mo<strong>the</strong>r. <strong>The</strong> husband settles9000 merks and <strong>the</strong> wife's tocher is 1000 merks. It is signed by <strong>the</strong> spouses, and <strong>the</strong> bride's mo<strong>the</strong>r,and by <strong>the</strong> following witnesses, George Gollan, writer in Edinburgh, Alexander Watson, his servitor,Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e <strong>of</strong> Easter Powrie, Mr. William Lyon, bro<strong>the</strong>r german to <strong>the</strong> Laird <strong>of</strong> Carse,Mr. Patrick Nevoy, tutor <strong>of</strong> Nevoy, Captain William Cramond <strong>of</strong> Moortoun and James Tailzeor,writer in Dundee.
