Jul} 7 9.—Contract between John, Lord Rahnerinoch, heritable proprietor <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Kirk <strong>of</strong> parish <strong>of</strong> Monyfuith on <strong>the</strong> one part, and Mr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong><strong>of</strong> Kingany, clerk <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> burgh <strong>of</strong> Dundee, on <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r part, whereby for <strong>the</strong> sum <strong>of</strong>£1000 paid by <strong>the</strong> latter, <strong>the</strong> said lord dispones to him heritably, without redemption,reversion, or regress, all and sundry <strong>the</strong> teind sheaves <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> Kingany, with<strong>the</strong> mill lands <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong>, and that pendicle <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong> <strong>ca</strong>lled <strong>the</strong> Crimblis, to be holdenby two manners <strong>of</strong> infeftment, namely, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said lord in free blemh, <strong>the</strong> saidMr. Alexander and his foresaids furnishing yearly and proportionately <strong>the</strong> bread andwine for <strong>the</strong> Communion celebrated in <strong>the</strong> Kirk <strong>of</strong> Monyfuith, and relieving <strong>the</strong> saidlord <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> King's taxations to be imposed on <strong>the</strong> said teind sheaves, and also <strong>of</strong>" beitting and repairing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fabrike <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Kirk " proportionately ; and <strong>the</strong>o<strong>the</strong>r to be holden <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> King for <strong>the</strong> yearly payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> blench duty ; and <strong>the</strong>said lord becomes bound to warrant and defend <strong>the</strong> said subjects to <strong>the</strong> said Mr.Alexander and his foresaids, from his lordship's own facts and deeds, and also from<strong>the</strong> facts and deeds <strong>of</strong> Sir Alexander Drummond <strong>of</strong> Medop, Knight, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>senators <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> College <strong>of</strong> Justice, and whereas by contract <strong>of</strong> alienation dated 3rd andregistered in <strong>the</strong> Rooks <strong>of</strong> Council 5th February 1614, .lames, Marquis <strong>of</strong> Hamiltondisponed to <strong>the</strong> said Sir Alexander Drummond <strong>the</strong> teind sheaves and vi<strong>ca</strong>rage teinds<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Kirk and parish, which right was transferred by <strong>the</strong> said Sir Alexander to<strong>the</strong> said lord, he, <strong>the</strong> said lord, hereby transfers <strong>the</strong> same with all o<strong>the</strong>r securities to<strong>the</strong> said Mr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong>. July 9.—Charter hy John Lord Ralmerinoch to Mr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e,<strong>of</strong> Kingany, clerk <strong>of</strong> Dundee (following on <strong>the</strong> above contract), <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> teind sheaves<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> Kingennie, Crymbles, &c, to hold <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Crown in fee and heritageand free blench for <strong>the</strong> yearly payment <strong>of</strong> two shillings, &c. Done on <strong>the</strong> ground <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands on 1st, and recorded in <strong>the</strong> particular register<strong>of</strong> Sasines at Dundee, 8 Sept. 1 618. July 22.—Discharge by Reter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, lawful son <strong>of</strong> Mr. Alexander<strong>Wedderburn</strong>, clerk <strong>of</strong> Dundee, to Helen Ramsay, spouse <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Mr. Alexander,and mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Reter, for 800 merks scots, where<strong>of</strong> 300 merks were deliveredto him by his said parents <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir own goodwill and benevolence and <strong>the</strong> remaining500 merks were promised to him in manner and for <strong>the</strong> <strong>ca</strong>uses contained in <strong>the</strong>contract <strong>of</strong> marriage made betwixt <strong>the</strong> said Mr. Alexander, taking burden onhimself for <strong>the</strong> said Peter on <strong>the</strong> one part, and Helen Lovell, daughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lateJohn Lovell, bailie <strong>of</strong> Dundee, with consent <strong>of</strong> her curators and friends <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rpart, <strong>of</strong> date 6 1 — .
