To our R* trusty, and R' entirely beloved Cousin, Charles D. <strong>of</strong> Norfolk,E.M. and H M. <strong>of</strong> England, Greeting" Whereas, Andrew <strong>Wedderburn</strong> <strong>of</strong> Crombie in y e Co? <strong>of</strong> Fife, and <strong>of</strong> Leadenhall S' in y e City <strong>of</strong>London, Esquire, hath by his Petition, humbly represented unto Us, that we were graciously pleased in <strong>the</strong>Month <strong>of</strong> December, 1810, with <strong>the</strong> Advice and consent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord Chief Baron, and <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Barons <strong>of</strong> Our Exchequer <strong>of</strong> Scotland, to give and grant to <strong>the</strong> Petitioner, by <strong>the</strong> description <strong>of</strong> AndrewColvile Esquire Merchant in London, eldest Son <strong>of</strong> M rs Isabella Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, by her Husband, James<strong>Wedderburn</strong> Colvile Esquire <strong>of</strong> Inveresk, and <strong>the</strong> Heirs <strong>of</strong> his body, with remainder to o<strong>the</strong>r heirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>body <strong>of</strong> his said Mo<strong>the</strong>r ; remainder to heirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body <strong>of</strong> M 1^ Margaret Colvile her Mo<strong>the</strong>r ;remainderto heirs female <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body <strong>of</strong> Andrew Ayton Merchant <strong>of</strong> Glasgow, fa<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Margaret Colvile,second son <strong>of</strong> Sir John Ayton <strong>of</strong> Codour, and Dame Margaret Colvile Lady Aytou, his Wife, eldest Sister<strong>of</strong> Robert Lord Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, and <strong>the</strong> Heirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir bodies ;remainder to <strong>the</strong> Right heirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>said Robert Lord Colvile whatsoever, Subject to certain Provisions, Conditions, and Limitations, <strong>the</strong>reinmentioned, certain Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, <strong>the</strong>rein named ; which were heret<strong>of</strong>ore <strong>the</strong>Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Robert Lord Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, and which devolvedupon <strong>the</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Petitioner, by right <strong>of</strong> Inheritance, as <strong>the</strong> Lineal Descendant and Heir <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> saidAndrew Ayton, under and by Virtue <strong>of</strong> a certain Deed <strong>of</strong> Tailzie and Entail made by <strong>the</strong> said RobertLord Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, in which it is expressly conditioned, and enjoined, that if <strong>the</strong> said AndrewAyton, or his descendants, succeed to <strong>the</strong> said Inheritance, he and <strong>the</strong>y so succeeding, shall respectively beobliged, to assume, use, and bear, <strong>the</strong> surname and arms <strong>of</strong> Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, without any addition, oralteration whatsoever : That <strong>the</strong> Petitioner being now in Possession <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Said Lands, is desirous <strong>of</strong>complying with <strong>the</strong> condition above recited ; and <strong>the</strong>refore most humbly prays, that We will be graciouslypleased, to Grant him our Royal License and Authority that he and his Issue may assume, and bear, <strong>the</strong>said Surname <strong>of</strong> Colvile and no o<strong>the</strong>r, and also use and bear <strong>the</strong> Arms <strong>of</strong> Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, withoutany addition or alteration whatsoever, according to <strong>the</strong> Condition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Entail and <strong>the</strong> Laws <strong>of</strong> Arms." Know Ye, that We <strong>of</strong> our Princely Grace and Special Favor, have given and granted, and by <strong>the</strong>sepresents do give and grant unto him, <strong>the</strong> Said Andrew <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, our Royal License and Authority, tha<strong>the</strong> and his Issue may assume and bear <strong>the</strong> said Surname <strong>of</strong> Colvile and no o<strong>the</strong>r, and also use and bear <strong>the</strong>arms <strong>of</strong> Colvile <strong>of</strong> Ochiltree, without any addition, or alteration whatsoever ; according to <strong>the</strong> condition <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> said Entail, and <strong>the</strong> Laws <strong>of</strong> Arms ; Such arms being first duly exemplified according to <strong>the</strong> Laws <strong>of</strong>Arms ; and recorded in <strong>the</strong> Heralds' Office ; O<strong>the</strong>rwise, this our license and permission to be void and <strong>of</strong>none effect."Our Will and Pleasure, <strong>the</strong>refore is, that You, Charles, Duke <strong>of</strong> Norfolk, to whom <strong>the</strong> cognizance <strong>of</strong>matters <strong>of</strong> this nature doth properly belong, Do require and command that this our concession anddeclaration be recorded in Our College <strong>of</strong> Arms, to <strong>the</strong> end that our Officers <strong>of</strong> Arms, and all o<strong>the</strong>rs uponoc<strong>ca</strong>sion, may take full notice, and have knowledge <strong>the</strong>re<strong>of</strong>." And for so doing this shall be your Warrant."
