Sept. 20.—Minute of the bailie Court of Dundee held in the Tolbooth thereof,before which compeared Alexander Wedderburn, common clerk of the burgh, and"resignit and demittit" his office of clerkship with all fees &c. pertaining thereto,into the hands of the bailies, in favour of Master Alexander Wedderburn his eldestlawful son ; whereupon the court, according to the tenor of a letter subscribed by theprovost, bailies, council &c. of the burgh, anent the disposition of the said officeto the said .M r. Alexander, did now elect and create him their common clerk, withall privileges &c, and the said Mr. Alexander then gave his oath for faithfully usingthe said office, and, with consent of the said Mr. Alexander, did also makeand constitute the said Alexander Wedderburn, elder, substitute in the said officeduring his lifetime.
