July 10.—License by David, Earl <strong>of</strong> Crawford to Mr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong><strong>of</strong> Kingenny, whereby <strong>the</strong> Earl "for services, &c, done to us by Mr. A W. <strong>of</strong>Kingenny, common clerk <strong>of</strong> Dundee, grants and gives license, tolerance and liberty to<strong>the</strong> said Mr. Alexander his heirs and <strong>the</strong>ir tenants and occupiers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong>Kingenny to pasture or <strong>ca</strong>us to pasture <strong>the</strong>ir goods and bestial within all <strong>the</strong> bounds<strong>of</strong> our muirs, firths, and myres <strong>of</strong> our baronie <strong>of</strong> Downy, lying within <strong>the</strong> sheriffdom<strong>of</strong> Forfar, and that yearly and ilk year hereafter following, and sicklike to <strong>ca</strong>us winand lead away furth <strong>of</strong> our mosses and muirs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said barony, turfs and peats to<strong>the</strong>ir own proper use and furniture only, when <strong>the</strong>y think expedient, Discharging<strong>the</strong>refore all our bailies, grieves, and <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> all troubling, molesting or makingimpediment to <strong>the</strong> said Mr. Alexander and his forsaids in <strong>the</strong> using <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said liberty,privilege and tolerance."
