Informal minute or record <strong>of</strong> a bailie Court held on <strong>the</strong> — day <strong>of</strong> — 1G33, Dundeerecording (inter alia) that Robert Clayhills compeared and claimed 500 merks <strong>of</strong> writ e &cCa<strong>the</strong>rine <strong>Wedderburn</strong>. Also that William and Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong> compeared byMr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong> and John Goldman, <strong>the</strong>ir curators, and claimed 5500merks owing <strong>the</strong>m by various persons (including 800 merks from Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong>,younger, mariner). Mr. Alex. <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, elder, <strong>of</strong> Kingany, James <strong>Wedderburn</strong>,merchant, Helen Lovell, relict <strong>of</strong> Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, and Elizabeth <strong>Wedderburn</strong>,wife <strong>of</strong> Mr. Alex. Fo<strong>the</strong>riughame, also claim various sums from various persons.Below <strong>the</strong> above is written :" I, Mr. Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e, younger,commone clerk <strong>of</strong> Dundie, testifies by thir presents that thir[are?] <strong>the</strong> just extracts <strong>of</strong>all sowmes <strong>of</strong> money given up to me, for <strong>the</strong> which extraordinary taxatione is so tobe paj'ed to his Majestic for <strong>the</strong> sext termes payment thair<strong>of</strong>, granted to his Majestiein July 1630, without eiking anything thairto or diminishing anything thairfrom,whilk I testitie to be trew upon my great oath, as I sail answer to God at <strong>the</strong> Latterday."This is among some loose papers lying on <strong>the</strong> shelves <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> charter room. Aug. 17.— Precept <strong>of</strong> Clare constat in favour <strong>of</strong> William Graham <strong>of</strong> Claverhouse,grandson <strong>of</strong> George Graham <strong>of</strong> Claverhouse, <strong>of</strong> (a) <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>ca</strong>lled <strong>the</strong>Marmaiden Pot, bounded on <strong>the</strong> east by <strong>the</strong> lands <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> chaplainry <strong>of</strong> S. James, oncebelonging to Robert <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, (b) <strong>the</strong> acres once pertaining to Robert <strong>Wedderburn</strong>,elder, merchant, and afterwards to Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, deceased, merchant burgess,from whom <strong>the</strong>y were acquired by <strong>the</strong> said George Graham. xiv, iii, 1.72. 1664. Feb. 13.— " Provision <strong>of</strong> L. Blackness 1 to his third soue Peter <strong>Wedderburn</strong>e1664." This document (so endorsed) is a settlement by Sir Alexander <strong>Wedderburn</strong> <strong>of</strong>Blackuess on his said son <strong>of</strong> a South Flukergate tenement. It is signed by William<strong>Wedderburn</strong>e, bro<strong>the</strong>r german to Sir Alexander, as witness, thus, " Villiam VerburneVitnes " (iv, i, 2.) <strong>The</strong> sasine is given 17 Feb. (iv, i, 3). <strong>The</strong>n follows 1675, 18 Dec.a renunciation by J ames <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, clerk <strong>of</strong> Dundee, second son <strong>of</strong> Sir Alexander, in1L. stands, oi course, for Lord, or Laird <strong>of</strong> Blackness.2b
