7.37.3 KOKANEE SALMON HATCHERIES(Fund Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance of Hatcheries atGalbraith Springs <strong>and</strong> Sherman Creek: Begin FY 1988.)(Fund Monitoring Programs>903(g)(l)(C) [Abstract] BPA shall fund design, construction, operation, <strong>and</strong>maintenance of two kokanee salmon hatcheries, one at GalbraithSprings <strong>and</strong> one at Sherman Creek. The Sherman Creek hatcherywill be used as an imprinting site <strong>and</strong> egg collection facilityto provide a source of kokanee fry for: i> stocking into BanksLake <strong>and</strong> ii> transferring to Galbraith Springs hatchery forrearing to fingerling size before planting into Lake Roosevelt.Decisions on hatchery production, stocking, <strong>and</strong> outplantinglocations will be coordinated by a three-member committeeconsisting of one representative each appointed by the ColvilleConfederated Tribes, Spokane Tribe, <strong>and</strong> the WashingtonDepartment of Wildlife.ACTION ITEM ACTIVITY SUMMARY:Objectives:To fund the design, construction, operation, <strong>and</strong> maintenance of twokokanee salmon hatcheries.Background <strong>and</strong> Proqress to Date:Plans:Preliminary design began in FY 1988.BPA will complete the final design of the hatcheries, <strong>and</strong>construction will begin in FY 1990.1 7 5
