7.37.3 KOKANEE SALMON HATCHERIES(Fund Design, Construction, Operation, Maintenance of Hatcheries atGalbraith Springs and Sherman Creek: Begin FY 1988.)(Fund Monitoring Programs>903(g)(l)(C) [Abstract] BPA shall fund design, construction, operation, andmaintenance of two kokanee salmon hatcheries, one at GalbraithSprings and one at Sherman Creek. The Sherman Creek hatcherywill be used as an imprinting site and egg collection facilityto provide a source of kokanee fry for: i> stocking into BanksLake and ii> transferring to Galbraith Springs hatchery forrearing to fingerling size before planting into Lake Roosevelt.Decisions on hatchery production, stocking, and outplantinglocations will be coordinated by a three-member committeeconsisting of one representative each appointed by the ColvilleConfederated Tribes, Spokane Tribe, and the WashingtonDepartment of Wildlife.ACTION ITEM ACTIVITY SUMMARY:Objectives:To fund the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of twokokanee salmon hatcheries.Background and Proqress to Date:Plans:Preliminary design began in FY 1988.BPA will complete the final design of the hatcheries, andconstruction will begin in FY 1990.1 7 5
