8.18.1 LOSS STATEMENTS(Fund as Needs are Identified.>1003(b)(3)[Abstract] Bonneville shall fund studies to develop statementsof <strong>wildlife</strong> <strong>and</strong> habitat losses at the projects listed inTable 3 of the Fish <strong>and</strong> Wildlife Program, includingpower-related storage <strong>and</strong> regulatory dams. These statementsshall take into account all existing information pertinent tothe project area <strong>and</strong> shall address both realized <strong>and</strong> potentialpositive <strong>and</strong> negative effects.ACTION ITEM ACTIVITY SUMMARY:Objectives:To obtain an estimate of the net impacts on <strong>wildlife</strong> <strong>and</strong> habitat fromdevelopment <strong>and</strong> operation of Columbia River Basin Federal hydroelectricfacilities. This information will be used in developing objectives toprotect, mitigate, <strong>and</strong> enhance <strong>wildlife</strong> affected by hydro development<strong>and</strong> operation.Background <strong>and</strong> Progress to Date:Plans:The development of the hydroelectric system has caused both adverse<strong>and</strong> beneficial effects on <strong>wildlife</strong> <strong>and</strong> habitat. Action Item 8.1calls for the funding of studies to identify net impacts on <strong>wildlife</strong><strong>and</strong> <strong>wildlife</strong> habitat from hydroelectric development <strong>and</strong> operation.Study information will be used to develop Action Item 8.3: <strong>wildlife</strong>protection, mitigation, <strong>and</strong> enhancement plans.Table 7 outlines the status of loss assessments at FCRPS facilities.Loss assessments have been completed for 22 of the 29 FCRPSfacilities. Two facilities (Roza, <strong>and</strong> Ch<strong>and</strong>ler> do not require lossassessments.
