Most present screensystems have not been tested sufficiently to be characterized asproven. Existing designs and new designs must be evaluated todetermine which designs are biologically and economically efficient. The suitability of screen designs for application at smallhydroelectric facilities must also be determined. The intent is toprovide acceptable fish screen designs with general applicability forregional hydropower developers.Presently deferred, since BPA's adoption of Protected Areas in itsLong-Term Intertie Access Policy provides protection for fishinvestments through denying access to the Pacific Northwest-PacificSouthwest Intertie to any new hydroelectric projects located indesignated Protected Areas of the Columbia River Basin. No BPA-funded projects.2 5 1
