4.44.4PROSSER DAM FISH PASSAGE FACILITIES(Juvenile Facilities Completion: March 1, 1987)(Adult Facilities Completion: December 1, 1987)803(b)(3)[Abstract] BPA shall provide funds to the USBR for constructionof improve- ments <strong>and</strong> additions to Prosser Dam necessary toprovide safe, efficient, <strong>and</strong> timely passage of adult <strong>and</strong>juvenile <strong>fish</strong>.ACTION ITEM ACTIVITY SUMMARY:Objectives:Provide funds to the USBR for construction of Prosser Dam improvements<strong>and</strong> additions necessary to provide safe, efficient, <strong>and</strong> timelypassage of adult <strong>and</strong> juvenile <strong>fish</strong>.Background <strong>and</strong> Progress to Date:Plans:Projects:The USBR owns Prosser Dam; <strong>fish</strong> passage facilities have beenconstructed through Congressional appropriations. The project is oneof 20 such passage improvement projects in the Yakima River Basin.Fish screen <strong>and</strong> ladder improvements were required to protect juvenile<strong>fish</strong> adequately from being lost in irrigation canals <strong>and</strong> to enableadult <strong>fish</strong> to migrate upstream to spawn.USBR began screen construction in May 1986. Right bank ladder wascompleted in May 1986. Left <strong>and</strong> center ladders were completed inSeptember 1989.Action Item has been completed.No BPA-funded projects.75
