8.38.3 MITIGATION PLANS(Fund Development>1003(b)(4)[Abstract] Bonneville shall fund the development of mitigationplans for each of the projects listed in Table 3 of the Fish <strong>and</strong>Wildlife Program, including power-related storage <strong>and</strong> regulatoryDams.ACTION ITEM ACTIVITY SUMMARY:Objectives:To identify target <strong>wildlife</strong> species for protection, mitigation, <strong>and</strong>enhancement; to develop protection, mitigation, <strong>and</strong> enhancementgoals/objectives; <strong>and</strong> to coordinate mitigation goals/objectives withinterested <strong>and</strong> involved parties for Federal hydroelectric facilities.Background <strong>and</strong> Progress to Date:Plans:Action Item 8.3 pertains to the development of <strong>wildlife</strong> protection,mitigation, <strong>and</strong> enhancement plans. These plans are to take intoaccount the <strong>wildlife</strong> impacts identified under Action Item 8.1, are tocomplement existing <strong>wildlife</strong> management plans <strong>and</strong> goals, <strong>and</strong> are totake into account the st<strong>and</strong>ards outlined in Measure 1003(b)(4)(C).Wildlife protection, mitigation, <strong>and</strong> enhancement goals/objectivesdeveloped in these plans are submitted to the Council for theirapproval <strong>and</strong> prioritization.Table 9 outlines the status of mitigation plans at FCRPS facilities.Mitigation plans have been completed for 16 of the 29 FCRPSfacilities. Mitigation plans are not anticipated for seven FCRPSfacilities (Roza, Ch<strong>and</strong>ler, Boise Diversion, <strong>and</strong> Lower SnakeFacilities>.Mitigation plans for Chief Joseph, Minidoka, Bonneville, The Dalles,John Day, <strong>and</strong> McNary Dams will continue <strong>and</strong> be completed in FY 1991.2 1 9
