Accreditations <strong>and</strong> Memberships<br />

<strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is accredited by the Board of Governors for Higher Education <strong>and</strong><br />

by the New Engl<strong>and</strong> Association of Schools <strong>and</strong> <strong>College</strong>s, Inc., which accredits schools <strong>and</strong> colleges<br />

in the six New Engl<strong>and</strong> states. Accreditation by the Association indicates that the institution has been<br />

carefully evaluated <strong>and</strong> found to meet st<strong>and</strong>ards agreed upon by qualifi ed educators.<br />

Seven programs of study offered by <strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> have been awarded national<br />

accreditation. The Occupational Therapy Assistant program has been accredited by the Accreditation<br />

Council for Occupational Therapy Education. The Physical Therapist Assistant Program has been accredited<br />

by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical<br />

Therapy Association. The Respiratory Care <strong>and</strong> Surgical Technology Programs have been accredited<br />

by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The Paralegal Program<br />

has been approved by the American Bar Association. The Foodservice Management <strong>and</strong> Culinary<br />

<strong>Arts</strong> Programs have been accredited by the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute Accrediting<br />

Commission.<br />

The <strong>College</strong> is a member of the American Association of <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>s (AACC), the American<br />

Association of Higher Education (AAHE), the American Council on Education (ACE), the Association<br />

of American <strong>College</strong>s <strong>and</strong> Universities (AAC&U), the Association of <strong>College</strong> Unions International<br />

(ACUI), several chambers of commerce, the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), the<br />

National Council for Resource Development (NCRD), the National Council on Student Development<br />

(NCSD), the Southern New Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> University Personnel Association (SNECUPA), <strong>and</strong><br />

several other organizations.<br />

This catalog of <strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is provided as a source of information for prospective<br />

students <strong>and</strong> does not constitute a contract. It is printed <strong>and</strong> distributed in advance of the academic<br />

period during which it is to be in effect: therefore, the <strong>College</strong> reserves the right to make necessary<br />

changes in any of the information appearing in the catalog. The <strong>College</strong> Catalog also appears in<br />

electronic format on the MCC web site www.mcc.commnet.edu. While the <strong>College</strong> cannot guarantee<br />

employment for students following graduation, the <strong>College</strong> Career Services Offi ce will assist students<br />

in their effort to fi nd employment.<br />

<strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> the community college system of the State of Connecticut does<br />

not discriminate against any person on the grounds of race, color, religious creed, sex, age, national<br />

origin, ancestry, present or past history of mental disorder, marital status, mental retardation, sexual<br />

orientation, learning disability, or physical disability, including, but not limited to, blindness, or prior<br />

conviction of a crime, unless the provisions of sections 46a-60(b), 46a-80(b), or 46a-81(b) of the<br />

Connecticut general statutes are controlling or there is a bona fi de occupational qualifi cation excluding<br />

persons in one of the above protected groups. With respect to the foregoing, discrimination on<br />

the basis of sex shall include sexual harassment as defi ned in section 46a-60(8) of the Connecticut<br />

general statutes. Although it is recognized that there are bona fi de occupational qualifi cations which<br />

provide for exception from employment prohibitions, it is understood these exceptions are to be<br />

applied pursuant to section 46a-68-33 of the administrative regulations. Further, the system does not<br />

discriminate against any individual on the grounds of political beliefs or veteran status.<br />
