Admissions<br />

<strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> has an “open door” admissions policy for<br />
graduates of approved accredited high schools or those individuals that possess<br />
a State High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).<br />
Admission to the college does not necessarily mean admissions to all courses<br />
or programs.<br />
Degree or Certificate Students (Matriculation)<br />
Students applying for a degree or certificate program must complete the<br />
Admissions Application form along with a one-time non-refundable $20.00<br />
application fee, submit official transcripts or diploma from an approved high<br />
school/college or an official copy of the GED, <strong>and</strong> submit proof of measles/<br />
rubella immunizations.<br />
Requirements for Admissions<br />
An applicant must be a graduate of an approved high school or possess a<br />
State High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), or be a college graduate.<br />
Students are required to be in-state legal residents for a period of one full year<br />
from the date of the first class of the semester to receive benefits of the in-state<br />
tuition rate. Proof of residency may be required by the Admissions office.<br />
Students are admitted to the <strong>College</strong> for courses that begin in the fall semester<br />
(September) <strong>and</strong> in the spring semester (January). Persons wishing to<br />
study at MCC are urged to apply for admissions as early as possible before<br />
the semester in which they expect to begin. New <strong>and</strong> transfer students are<br />
encouraged to apply for new student advising <strong>and</strong> registration, prior to late<br />
June for the fall semester <strong>and</strong> prior to mid-December for the spring semester.<br />
New students that apply after these dates can still register during walk-in<br />
registration. However, there is no guarantee that the courses students would<br />
like to register for will be available at that time.<br />
Health Career Applications<br />
Students interested in pursuing a health career must fill out a separate Health<br />
Career application in addition to the MCC Admissions Application. There is<br />
no charge for the health career application. Health Career applications are<br />
available in the Admissions office. Applications for the Occupational Therapy<br />
Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, <strong>and</strong> Surgical Technology<br />
programs are accepted all year long. Please consult program coordinators<br />
for specific deadlines. Completed applications should be returned to the<br />
Admissions office, L-156. No special application is required for the Therapeutic<br />
Recreation <strong>and</strong> Sport <strong>and</strong> Exercise Studies programs.<br />
International Student Programs <strong>and</strong> Services (860-512-3205)<br />
The Office of Minority <strong>and</strong> International Student Programs is here to assist<br />
international students meet their academic, social <strong>and</strong> cultural needs while<br />
attending <strong>Manchester</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>. The Office provides information,<br />
programs, activities <strong>and</strong> services to increase international awareness within<br />
the college community. Also, the Office will assist international students with<br />
academic opportunities that the <strong>College</strong> has to offer. International students<br />
speaking over 50 languages representing over 50 countries have attended<br />
MCC <strong>and</strong> many students transfer to four-year institutions to further their academic<br />
goals. International students interested in applying to MCC with an I20<br />
application for F1 consideration must do so before May 27, 2005 for the Fall<br />
2005 semester <strong>and</strong> November 4, 2005 for the Spring 2006 semester. International<br />
students interested in attending MCC with an F1 visa should contact the<br />
Director of Minority <strong>and</strong> International Student Programs for further information<br />
to ensure that their I20 application is processed in a timely manner for<br />
appropriate service, or U.S. State Department approval. Official international<br />
academic credentials, such as high school <strong>and</strong> college transcripts, must be<br />
in English. These documents may be translated <strong>and</strong> evaluated by the World<br />
Education Services, Inc., (www.wes.org), before they are submitted for international<br />
