Integrating Monitoring Applications<br />

You can use applications <strong>for</strong> monitoring purposes by configuring them to<br />

deliver the monitored object status using the opcmon(1) command or<br />

opcmon(3) API.<br />

Requirements <strong>for</strong> Integrating Monitored Applications<br />

To integrate a monitored application into <strong>HP</strong>OM, the application must<br />

meet the following requirements:<br />

<strong>UNIX</strong> Systems<br />

The application must be accessible from the$PATH settings of the<br />

root.<br />

All Systems<br />

The path must be fully qualified in the corresponding message<br />

condition.<br />

NOTE<br />

In either case, the application must be available on the managed node.<br />

Distributing Monitored Applications to Managed<br />

Nodes<br />

You can distribute simple and widely used monitoring applications to<br />

managed nodes through <strong>HP</strong>OM. For details, see “Distributing the <strong>HP</strong>OM<br />

Agent Configuration to the Managed Nodes” on page 171.<br />
