Installation Method<br />

To install <strong>HP</strong>OM agent software using the SSH installation method,<br />

follow these steps:<br />

1. Configure login <strong>for</strong> user root.<br />

The recommended method to configure login without a password is<br />

RSA authentication, based on the user’s public/private key pair and<br />

the ssh agent utility.<br />

To configure a login using the provided utilities, follow these steps:<br />

a. If you are setting up <strong>HP</strong>-UX managed node, make sure that the<br />

sshd configuration options in /usr/local/etc/sshd_config are<br />

set as follows:<br />

AllowTcpForwarding yes<br />

X11Forwarding yes<br />

X11DisplayOffset 10<br />

X11UseLocalhost no<br />

b. Run the ssh-keygen.<br />

[username@local ~]$ssh-keygen<br />

Initializing random number generator...<br />

Generating p: ............++ (distance 186)<br />

Generating q: ......................................++<br />

(distance 498)<br />

Computing the keys...<br />

Testing the keys...<br />

Key generation complete.<br />

Enter file in which to save the key<br />

(/home/username/.ssh/identity): <br />

NOTE<br />

Make sure not to provide a passphrase. This way, no private key<br />

is needed when establishing a connection.<br />
