history database to the active database).<br />

About the “In<strong>for</strong>mational” Ownership Mode<br />

In in<strong>for</strong>mational mode, a marked message indicates that an operator has<br />

taken note of a message. Marking a message is <strong>for</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mational<br />

purposes only. Unlike optional and en<strong>for</strong>ced modes, in<strong>for</strong>mational mode<br />

does not restrict or alter operations on the message. Operator may<br />

unmark only those messages they themselves have marked.<br />

Configuring Message Ownership Mode<br />

The <strong>HP</strong>OM administrator can choose a message ownership mode to<br />

determine the message ownership policy.<br />

To specify a message ownership mode:<br />

1. Since the configuration is global and affects all <strong>HP</strong>OM sessions, close<br />

all running GUIs and stop the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Operations</strong> management server<br />

processes be<strong>for</strong>e editing the opcsvinfo file.<br />

2. Edit the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Operations</strong> management server configuration file<br />

/opt/OV/bin/OpC/install/opcsvinfo<br />

3. Add one of the following options to the file:<br />

OPC_OWN_MODE ENFORCED<br />

OPC_OWN_MODE OPTIONAL<br />

OPC_OWN_MODE INFORM<br />

4. Save and close the file.<br />

5. Restart the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Operations</strong> management server processes <strong>for</strong> the new<br />

configuration to be read.<br />

6. Restart the <strong>HP</strong>OM GUI.<br />
