Maintaining <strong>HP</strong>OM<br />

Changing Hostnames and IP Addresses in a Cluster Environment<br />

To Change the Virtual Hostname or IP Address of the<br />

Management Server<br />

To change the virtual hostname or IP address of the management server,<br />

per<strong>for</strong>m these steps on the cluster node where the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Operations</strong><br />

management server is running:<br />

1. Request and install new licenses from the <strong>HP</strong> Password<br />

Delivery Service.<br />

For more in<strong>for</strong>mation about <strong>HP</strong>OM licensing, see the <strong>HP</strong>OM<br />

Installation Guide <strong>for</strong> the Management Server.<br />

2. Disable monitoring <strong>for</strong> the <strong>HP</strong> <strong>Operations</strong> management<br />

server.<br />

To disable monitoring, enter the following command:<br />

/opt/OV/lbin/ovharg -monitor ov-server disable<br />

3. Stop all <strong>HP</strong>OM processes on your management server.<br />

Stop the manager, agent, and Java GUI processes running on the<br />

system:<br />

a. Stop all running Java GUIs.<br />

b. Stop the <strong>HP</strong>OM manager processes by entering:<br />

/opt/OV/bin/ovstop<br />

c. Stop the <strong>HP</strong>OM agents on your management server by entering:<br />

/opt/OV/bin/ovc -kill<br />

d. Verify that no <strong>HP</strong>OM processes are running by entering:<br />

ps -eaf | grep opc<br />

ps -eaf | grep ovc<br />

e. If an <strong>HP</strong>OM process is still running, kill it manually by entering:<br />

kill <br />

All <strong>HP</strong>OM agents on <strong>HP</strong>OM managed nodes start buffering their<br />

messages.<br />
