The Wasatch Mountains are
considered the western edge of
the greater Rocky Mountains, and
the eastern edge of the Great Basin
region. Glacial sculpting made the
Wasatch much more rugged and
dramatic than other sections of the
Rocky Mountain Range, though not
as tall. Peaks along the Wasatch top
out at around 11,000 feet, compared
to the 13,000-foot-plus peaks in the
nearby Uinta Mountains.
