Two critical personnel additions to <strong>the</strong> LCG team were<br />

made early on to help manage <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>tense growth: <strong>the</strong> Dabbs<br />

hired Ted Derby and Kris Standiford. Utiliz<strong>in</strong>g his forty-plus<br />

year glaz<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dustry career, Derby quickly proved to be<br />

an <strong>in</strong>valuable asset <strong>in</strong> terms of bus<strong>in</strong>ess development and,<br />

accord<strong>in</strong>g to Dabb, was critical <strong>in</strong> how LCG wea<strong>the</strong>red<br />

<strong>the</strong> 2008 economic downturn. “Projects were pulled from<br />

bidd<strong>in</strong>g every day and subcontractors were fight<strong>in</strong>g for<br />

position <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> market. Derby was critical <strong>in</strong> assist<strong>in</strong>g LCG<br />

Facades stay competitive,” Dabb says. Standiford filled <strong>the</strong><br />

role of CFO and Human Resources Director. With an MBA <strong>in</strong><br />

account<strong>in</strong>g, Standiford has kept LCG solvent and up to speed<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> account<strong>in</strong>g world by establish<strong>in</strong>g and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

critical relationships with bank<strong>in</strong>g and bond<strong>in</strong>g companies.<br />

O<strong>the</strong>r personnel changes came <strong>in</strong> early 2010 when, as<br />

planned from <strong>the</strong> start, <strong>the</strong> Dabbs bought out L<strong>in</strong>ford’s<br />

<strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> LCG Facades, <strong>the</strong>reby becom<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> company’s<br />

sole owners and operators.<br />

Dabb feels strongly that ra<strong>the</strong>r than erod<strong>in</strong>g his bus<strong>in</strong>ess,<br />

economic trials have made it stronger. “A sign of a good<br />

company is one that comes out of a recession better than <strong>the</strong>y<br />

went <strong>in</strong>,” Dabb says. In <strong>the</strong> last several years LCG Facades had<br />

made significant <strong>in</strong>vestments <strong>in</strong> software<br />

and mach<strong>in</strong>e system technology and heavy<br />

equipment <strong>the</strong>reby improv<strong>in</strong>g overall<br />

company efficiency and customer service.<br />

“We can service <strong>the</strong> community faster, with<br />

greater accuracy, and most of all add<strong>in</strong>g<br />

value,” Dabb says.<br />

Today, LCG Facades growth patterns have<br />

rema<strong>in</strong>ed a consistent twenty-five percent<br />

per year. The company’s work and products<br />

are part of some of Utah’s most prom<strong>in</strong>ent structures<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Ogden’s Ensign Plaza, O. C. Tanner’s flagship store<br />

<strong>in</strong> downtown <strong>Salt</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>City</strong>, <strong>the</strong> Digital Learn<strong>in</strong>g Center<br />

at Utah Valley University <strong>in</strong> Orem, Utah Valley Regional<br />

Medical Center <strong>in</strong> Provo, <strong>the</strong> Park <strong>City</strong> Medical Center, <strong>the</strong><br />

University of Utah’s Museum of Natural History, <strong>the</strong><br />

Huntsman Cancer Institute, and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Salt</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>City</strong> Public<br />

Safety Build<strong>in</strong>g to name a few.<br />

Dabb’s future plans for LCG Facades <strong>in</strong>clude creat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Architectural Facades Inc. (AFI) a wholesale facade supplier<br />

for <strong>the</strong> western U.S. and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g his company’s leadership<br />

position with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Intermounta<strong>in</strong> West’s commercial<br />

build<strong>in</strong>g community and cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g to explore<br />

methods for energy efficiency and design. “Utah is<br />

on <strong>the</strong> forefront of green build<strong>in</strong>g and design and<br />

we feel very fortunate to be a part help<strong>in</strong>g Utah’s<br />

architectural community create build<strong>in</strong>gs that are<br />

both beautiful and environmentally friendly,” Dabb<br />

says. “And, of course, if it were not for my generous<br />

wife Ronda, I could not have done what it has<br />

taken to turn this company around and provide<br />

employment for all <strong>the</strong> people who make LCG<br />
