Woodbury Corporation and its pr<strong>in</strong>cipals own,<br />

control and/or manage over 11 million square feet<br />

of retail, office and <strong>in</strong>dustrial build<strong>in</strong>gs, 12 hotels<br />

compris<strong>in</strong>g over 1,500 rooms, and more than 1,300<br />

residential units <strong>in</strong> 11 Western and Midwestern<br />

states. Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g to lead <strong>in</strong> commercial real estate<br />

development with complex public-private partnerships<br />

and land-use concepts, its orig<strong>in</strong>al pr<strong>in</strong>ciples<br />

and values rema<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> bedrock of today’s organization.<br />

• First Generation–Industrial Era. F. Or<strong>in</strong> Woodbury<br />

entered <strong>the</strong> real estate bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> 1919. Often pass<strong>in</strong>g<br />

on profitable opportunities <strong>in</strong> order to build a<br />

reputation of <strong>in</strong>tegrity over <strong>in</strong>come, <strong>the</strong> F. Or<strong>in</strong> Woodbury<br />

Company cont<strong>in</strong>ued to flourish through <strong>the</strong> Great<br />

Depression. In 1935 it was reorganized as Woodbury<br />

Corporation. F. O. led <strong>in</strong> real estate circles locally and<br />

nationally, help<strong>in</strong>g develop education programs and<br />

professional designations. He served as national president<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and<br />

Counselors of Real Estate (CRE). F. O. brokered many<br />

significant land assemblage deals <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Standard<br />

Oil ref<strong>in</strong>ery and pipel<strong>in</strong>e, Utah State Penitentiary,<br />

Veterans Hospital and <strong>the</strong> Rem<strong>in</strong>gton Arms Plant.<br />

• Second Generation–Shopp<strong>in</strong>g Center Development Era.<br />

F. O.’s sons, Wallace and Or<strong>in</strong> led <strong>the</strong> development of<br />

multiple shopp<strong>in</strong>g centers <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g University Mall <strong>in</strong><br />

Orem, Utah, over twenty Kmart anchored centers and<br />

many grocery anchored shopp<strong>in</strong>g centers. Present<br />

company chairman Or<strong>in</strong> R. Woodbury was an aviator and<br />

naval flight <strong>in</strong>structor dur<strong>in</strong>g World War II, later work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Woodbury Corporation and found<strong>in</strong>g Practical<br />

Build<strong>in</strong>g Company, a residential construction bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />

In 1954, F. O., Or<strong>in</strong> and Wally founded Richards<br />

Woodbury Mortgage Corporation, where Or<strong>in</strong> served<br />

for over thirty years, while cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g his role with<br />

Woodbury Corporation. Well <strong>in</strong>to his n<strong>in</strong>eties, Or<strong>in</strong><br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ues to work every day contribut<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> ongo<strong>in</strong>g<br />

success of Woodbury Corporation.<br />

• Third Generation–Diversified Development Era. Rick,<br />

Randy, Lynn, Jeff and Guy Woodbury, F. O.’s grandsons,<br />

have led <strong>the</strong> development and acquisition of over 100<br />

office, retail, hotel, and apartment projects <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />

University Mall redevelopment <strong>in</strong> Orem; The Meadows<br />

<strong>in</strong> American Fork; <strong>the</strong> University of Utah Research Park;<br />

and one of <strong>the</strong> largest Enhanced Use Lease projects <strong>in</strong><br />

U.S. history at Utah’s Hill Air Force Base.<br />

• Fourth Generation–Innovative Development Era. Two<br />

dozen additional family members and o<strong>the</strong>r company<br />

executives are engaged <strong>in</strong> projects emphasiz<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>novative,<br />

green approaches to development of new assets and<br />

redevelopment of current portfolio assets. Woodbury<br />

Corporation focuses on produc<strong>in</strong>g properties that are<br />

needed <strong>in</strong> its communities. This diversification helps<br />

Woodbury rema<strong>in</strong> strong through fluctuat<strong>in</strong>g economies,<br />
