Big Cottonwood: This fifteen-mile-long w<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g canyon provides excellent hik<strong>in</strong>g, bik<strong>in</strong>g picnick<strong>in</strong>g, rockclimb<strong>in</strong>g,<br />

camp<strong>in</strong>g and fish<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> summer. The flat Silver <strong>Lake</strong> Trail (located at 8,760 feet) is a particular draw<br />

for families.The Solitude and Brighton Resorts are this canyon’s most visited dest<strong>in</strong>ations <strong>in</strong> w<strong>in</strong>ter.<br />

Little Cottonwood: This dramatic canyon is home to one of Utah’s most iconic symbols—<strong>the</strong> Snowbird Tram—<br />

and Alta, which at 8,950 feet above sea level is one of Utah’s highest municipalities. Ski<strong>in</strong>g and snowboard<strong>in</strong>g are<br />

obviously <strong>the</strong> most popular w<strong>in</strong>ter pursuits here (snowboard<strong>in</strong>g is allowed at Snowbird only) while extensive trail<br />

systems and wildflower displays attract hikers, cyclists and campers all summer long.<br />
