It was also proposed that the Jamia Millia Islamia and the 4.253<br />

University should <strong>in</strong>crease the percentage of Urdu students <strong>in</strong> B.Ed. classes. Delhi<br />

was strong opposition to the appo<strong>in</strong>tment of non-Urdu know<strong>in</strong>g teachers <strong>in</strong> the Urdu medium schools. It was demanded that the Urdu medium teachers should be recruited separately. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

<strong>The</strong> Director of Education confirmed the dearth of Urdu know<strong>in</strong>g teachers, as also the fact that some non-Urdu know<strong>in</strong>g teachers were giv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>struction <strong>in</strong> Urdu medium schools. He, however, gave an assurance that every effort would be made to appo<strong>in</strong>t 4.254<br />

When the attention of the Chief M<strong>in</strong>ister was drawn to the problem, he promised to make arrangements for tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g one and a half times the number of the actual requirement of Urdu teachers.
