to the services but they would not be entitled to the benefit of relaxation of rules referred to above. recruitment<br />

Nature of the safeguards-As regards the nature of the relaxation to be giver, Madras 12.<br />

made the follow<strong>in</strong>g proposals :- (i) Adequate knowledge of Tamil as condition of eligibility for recruitment-It should be had<br />

to any candidate belong<strong>in</strong>g to the L<strong>in</strong>guistic M<strong>in</strong>orities of the State to apply for any post notwithstand<strong>in</strong>g that at the time of such application he does not possess adequate knowledge of Tamil with<strong>in</strong> the mean<strong>in</strong>g of the general rules. He should be eligible for open<br />

subject to the conditions specified <strong>in</strong> (iii) below. selection<br />

Medium of Exam<strong>in</strong>ation-Where Tamil is required to be offered as the medium of exam<strong>in</strong>ation for any public Exam<strong>in</strong>ation held by the Madras Public Service Commission, any candidate who is a member of a l<strong>in</strong>guistic m<strong>in</strong>ority <strong>in</strong> Madras State may if he so (ii)<br />
