After 1985 when Austria experienced the glycol scandal<br />
the quality of the wines have been continuously rising.<br />
With the toughest wine laws of the world and a unique<br />
climate the country might be one of the most exciting<br />
to follow in the next decade. The star of the country is<br />
called Grüner Veltliner and you can find the grape variety<br />
in all wine growing areas in Austria.<br />
2022 in Austria was very promising with a dry summer<br />
and perfect ripening. Despite the expected high quality,<br />
yields were slightly lower than usual. With 2,460,275 Hl<br />
recorded in 2021 the total wine production from Austria<br />
is quite low compared to other countries. With 2020 and<br />
2021 being vintages with record high acidity it seems<br />
that the acidity of vintage 2022 has returned to normal<br />
standards. This will please wine lovers who like more<br />
easy drinking wines with more complexity.<br />
Grüner Veltliner is by far the most planted grape variety<br />
with approximately a third of the total vineyards planted<br />
with the famous white grape.<br />

actually see several vineyards around on the slopes.
