Marlborough Vineyards<br />
Marlborough put New Zealand on the international wine stage in the 1980s with its exquisite Sauvignon<br />
Blanc. Over 20,000ha of vines (around 2/3s of the national total) are under the care of local wine producers,<br />
making it the country’s largest wine region.<br />
A combination of a cool yet high sunshine climate, low rainfall and free-draining, moderately fertile soil<br />
produces uniquely vivid wines. Hailed as one of New Zealand’s most sunny and dry regions, Maori referred<br />
to Marlborough’s Wairau Valley as ‘Kei puta te Wairau’ – ‘The place with the hole in the cloud’.<br />
Marlborough is at the top of New Zealand’s South Island and can be easily reached by air or ferry from<br />
Wellington. The city of Blenheim is at the region’s heart, and is just a short 20 minute drive from the<br />
breath-taking beauty of the Marlborough Sounds. Over the hills and to the south are the Awatere<br />
Valley and the seaside town of Kaikoura.<br />

and crisp with notes of lychee and citrus, good<br />
length and persistence A wonderfully crisp and<br />
