5.4 NETMPI IO Server<br />

5.4.1 Introduction<br />

<strong>General</strong> <strong>Reference</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> IO Servers Configuration<br />

NETMPI IO server is used to communicate with SIEMENS PLC. The <strong>eWON</strong> will connect to the PLC’s MPI interface by means of the eLINK<br />

adapter.<br />

The eLINK adapter is an interface with an MPI interface on one side and an Ethernet TCP/IP interface on the other side.<br />

The eLINK interface will be configured with an IP that the <strong>eWON</strong> will use to poll data. In addition to the IP address, the <strong>eWON</strong> will need the MPI<br />

address of the PLC on the MPI bus.<br />

Using that eLINK interface, it is possible to poll different types of item in the PLC. These items types are described below.<br />

5.4.2 Setup<br />

As for the Modbus and Unite protocols, it is possible to define topics, so that a single configuration can be applied to several Tags.<br />

The Item Name can contain the PLC address where the value is polled, or not. If address is also specified at topic level, the address specified at<br />

Tag level will be ignored.<br />
