Some tests on foil survivability are needed. An engineering design for stretching the thin foil<br />

across an aperture of few-mm diameter is also needed. In addition, another foil that is opaque to<br />

visible synchrotron radiation will be installed upstream of the 45° foil. Extensions of OTR<br />

techniques to x-ray transition radiation (XTR) or diffraction radiation (DR) techniques may<br />

provide some trades on spatial resolution and nonintercepting features, respectively. A schematic<br />

of the diagnostics station is shown in Figure 8.54.<br />
