In the vertical dimension, a hydrostatic leveling system will accurately monitor relative and<br />

global vertical position changes. To eliminate temperature effects on the hydrostatic leveling<br />

results, the water piping must not deviate from a common horizontal plane. This condition is<br />

guaranteed using the “half-filled” pipe approach. Capacitive sensors like the ones developed by<br />

the BINP, FNAL, SLAC collaboration for NLC ground motion studies will be used (Figure<br />

12.13) [13].<br />
