CHAPTER 2 Case Studies Georgia, Kenya, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka The four country case studies in this chapter feature in-depth analysis using the tool of the Framework for National Responsibility to assess national response to IDP protection and assistance. The basis for the selection of these four countries is explained in the methodology section of the introductory chapter of this volume. These case studies seek to analyze the challenges that national authorities have faced in implementing the measures outlined in the benchmarks as well as, where applicable, to assess their approaches to seeking to overcome them. Each case study begins with an overview of the internal displacement situation in the country followed by analysis of each of the twelve benchmarks. Concluding observations, including those based on the analysis presented in these four case studies and the analysis across the other eleven countries examined in this volume, in addition to recommendations to all governments affected by internal displacement, are presented in chapter 3. 177
