Disable DNS lookup—check this box to set the server not lookup IP Hostnames for users. Instead, only TCP/IP addresses are used. Limit connections—check this box to limit the number of connections to the server to the specified number, between zero (0) and 99999. Bind to IP Address—check this box if this server is known by more than one hostname to only allow connections made to one of those hostnames. Run as a service—if the system is running under Windows NT, check this box to run this ChatSpace server as a Windows NT Service. The ChatSpace server is then started and stopped from the Windows NT Control Panel Services applet. Enable Msg Board Integration—check this box to enable an integrated message board through an ASP (Active Server Pages) interface. Restart when modem connects/disconnects—if the modem on this server changes status (comes up or goes down), check this box to restart this server to pick up any changes to the TCP/IP environment (such as dynamic IP address). Chat Ports—enter the port or ports on this server that will allow chat connections. You may define multiple ports (separated by commas), or ranges of ports (separated by a dash). For example: 7000,6667, or 6668-6680. Web Port—enter the port used to accees this server via the World Wide Web. Disable Web Server—check this box to not allow the server to open an interface to the Web. Database Dialog Fields When you click on the Database button on the General tab, the Database Properties dialog box is displayed. The Database Properties dialog box allows you to configure the ODBC, Maintenance and Tracking options for your database. 27
Important These fields provide ChatSpace with access to the accompanying database. Changes to these fields could impact or inhibit ChatSpace’s operations. Before changing any of these fields, check the database to ensure that the entries match the settings for the database. ODBC Options Data Source Name—identifies the ODBC DSN to use to connect to the chatspace database. The DSN is setup automatically when ChatSpace is installed. The DSN can be accessed from your desktop by clicking Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC)-> System DSN Tab. Data Source Userid—the user name used to log ChatSpace into the database. Server—the I.P. address or host name of the machine on which the database resides. 28
