Putting the Java Client on a Web Page
Several methods are available for connecting your chat site with your web
site. These methods include linking, embedding in a frame, and direct
embedding.
Linking to your Java Client from any Web Page
Creating a hypertext link from any web page to your Chat Site is a simple
procedure of adding reference code to your web page. To create a link to your
Chat Site, add the following HTML to your web page:
Come to my Chat Site!
If you are using an HTML editor, you will just want to create a hyperlink to:
http://yourCommunityServerComputersTCPhostnameHere
If the computer you have installed Community Server on has an IP Address
which changes from time to time, you may wish to use its indirect address
through its ChatSpace registration:
http://go.chatspace.com/YourSerialNumberHere
Where YourSerialNumberHere represents the serial number of your
ChatSpace Chat Site, which you can find on the opening dialog box of the
ChatSpace Control Tool.
Embedding the Java Client in a Frame on a Web Page
The optimum way of embedding your chat client on your web page is to give it
its own frame, and just point it at your default interface. This method
provides your members with the full benefit of the ChatSpace client
environment.
Embedding your chat client also gives your members access to the login page
and its options for font size, forgotten password and client preference (Java or
HTML).
To create a frame for your Chat Site, set up your web page to be a frameset
containing at least the below two frames:
