Abstract - This thesis presents a comparative analysis of the importance of the infinite
for the problem of God in Descartes’ and Feurbach’s work. In order to do so, we made a
difference among the three notions of the infinite, the one that means total perfection
and establishes the proofs of God’s existence elaborated by Descartes. Following, we
analyze the infinitude in Feuerbach’s perspective. He attributes infinitude to the human
gender and, thus, denies God’s existence. In the end, we indicate similarities and
differences between the two philosophies.
