dy Sunday finder sted (McClean 1997: kap. 7). Belfast Newsletter konstruerer NICRA og de katolske
protestmarcher som et skalkeskjul for IRA:
“Its quite obvious that the CR demonstration was being deliberately used to cover the activities
of the terrorist and to aggravate the situation to further the ends of the extreme republican element”.
(The Belfast Newsletter 1972#3)
“PM: Those who organized this march must bear a terrible responsibility for urging people
to lawlessness and for providing the IRA with the opportunity to again bring death to our
streets”. (The Belfast Newsletter 1972#5)
“The republican civil rights and civil disobedience campaigns yesterday stripped the last vestige
of bogus respectability from the so-called CR Association. Today they are exposed ad a
sorry mixture of misguided people, gangs of thugs and hooligans manipulated by malevolent
men”. (The Belfast Newsletter 1972#8)
“In the statement they warn the organizers that other marches which have set out with the
intention of being peaceful have been infiltrated by others who have seen to it that they end
in violence”. (The Belfast Newsletter 1972#25)
“For all their assurances of measures they intended to take to control the parade, the organizers
could not conceivably know whether the IRA – who have been so active in and around Newry
in recent weeks would use the occasion to launch an attack on those forces”. (The Belfast
Newsletter 1972#27)
