The LATN 101, 102, 201 sequence covers the full grammar<br />

and syntax of the Classical language and prepares the<br />

student to read and write basic prose. This series requires<br />

one additional weekly contact hour for drill and practice.<br />

Elementary Latin I<br />

Basic introduction to grammar and syntax; the first three<br />

declensions of Latin nouns; demonstrative and personal<br />

pronouns; all four conjugations and all six tenses of Latin<br />

verbs (active voice). Translation of simple prose passages.<br />

Elementary Latin II<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Continuation of Latin grammar and syntax, covering the<br />

last two declensions of nouns; relative pronouns; passive<br />

voice and subjunctive mood of verbs; indirect statement;<br />

conditions. Translation of more complex prose passages.<br />

Prerequisite: LATN 101 or equivalent.<br />
