A basic jewelry course with an emphasis on creative design<br />

and various techniques including fabrication, soldering,<br />

forging, wax working, and casting. Also includes bezel<br />

stone setting.<br />

ART 373<br />

Jewelry II<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Advanced jewelry making with an emphasis on creative<br />

design and exploration of various techniques such as<br />

fabrication, casting, rolling mill texturing, hydraulic press<br />

forming, enameling processes, and the setting of faceted<br />

stones. Also an introduction to larger scale, sculptural<br />

design.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 372.<br />

ART 374<br />

Motion Graphics<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Advanced multimedia-oriented design concepts of the “onscreen”<br />

motion graphics and interactive presentations of<br />

images, text, motion, and sound.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 160 and 260.<br />

ART 375<br />

Figure Sculpture<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Modeling of the human figure with an emphasis on anatomy,<br />

leading to the extension of the figure as image.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit with consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ART 376<br />

Sculpture Workshop<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Advanced exploration of sculptural problems, techniques,<br />

and concepts using a variety of materials.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit with consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 275 or consent of instructor.<br />

ART 378<br />

Drawing and Clay<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

ART AND ART HISTORY / 301<br />

Emphasis on the surface treatment of ceramic work<br />

incorporating drawing, painting, and printmaking<br />

techniques.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit with consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

ART 380<br />

Photography II<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Exploration of advanced concepts of photography as applied<br />

to the development of personal expression. Topics of study<br />

change each semester.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit with consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 280.<br />

ART 382<br />

Digital Photography<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An emphasis on a working expertise in digital imaging,<br />

technologies utilizing Adobe Photoshop for image creation,<br />

manipulation, with input and output to various media.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 260 or consent of instructor;<br />

recommended: ART 280.<br />

ART 385<br />

Relief Printmaking<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Exploration of relief printing, photo-etching, and monotype<br />

processes. Graphic image making will be pursued through<br />

multiprintings. Personal visual development, technical skill,<br />

and conceptual development will be emphasized.<br />

Recommended: ART 151 or 285, or consent of instructor.<br />

ART 386<br />

Etching Printmaking<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Process using etching, aquatint, and other incising<br />

techniques on metal plates. Emphasis on black and white<br />

images with an introduction to multicolor printing.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Recommended: ART 151, 280, 285.
