3D Digital Toolbox<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Survey of concepts and processes utilized in the production<br />

of artworks with 3D digital software applications. Study of<br />

computer techniques integrating digital processing into the<br />

creative process.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 160 and 260.<br />

ART 364<br />

Digital Illustration<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

The integration of illustration practices, design principles,<br />

and conceptual problem solving procedures in the creation<br />

of illustrations for editorial designs, book jackets, and<br />

advertising. Illustrations are computer assisted or computer<br />

generated in black and white and in color.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 153, 160, and 260.<br />

ART 365<br />

Illustration<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

The integration of illustration practices, design principles,<br />

and conceptual problem-solving procedures in the creation<br />

of illustrations for editorial designs, book jackets, and<br />

advertising art. Illustrations are conceived of by conventional<br />

means.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 153, 160, and 260; Junior standing.<br />

ART 366<br />

Multimedia Computer Arts<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Explorations of interactive computer multimedia<br />

technologies with emphasis on the development of personal<br />

artistic expression.<br />

May be repeated twice for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 260.<br />

ART 367<br />

Online Computer Arts<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An emphasis on a working expertise in graphics, art, design,<br />

and aesthetics as they apply to interactive web authoring.<br />

This course will also utilize interactive linkages to a larger<br />

virtual arts community.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 160 and 260.<br />

ART 368<br />

Typography I<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

An introduction to the basic principles of typography in both<br />

the historical and contemporary practice of communication<br />

design. Course emphasizes type anatomy as well as how<br />

type works as a compositional element in the creation of<br />

effective visual communication.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 160 and 260; recommended: ART 369;<br />

Junior standing.<br />

Design and Pre-press<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

The integration of design, pre-press planning, and problem<br />

solving practices.<br />

Prerequisites: ART 160 and 260; Junior standing.<br />

ART 370<br />

Beginning Wheel Throwing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Introduction to throwing, glazing, and firing at several<br />

temperature levels with the aim of developing skills to<br />

enhance the student’s artistic voice in the contemporary<br />

clay context.<br />

ART 371<br />

Advanced Wheel Throwing<br />

1-3 Semester Hours<br />

Advanced work with wheel thrown forms with the aim of<br />

developing a thematic body of creative work in clay.<br />

May be repeated for degree credit.<br />

Prerequisite: ART 370.
