MRKT 365<br />

Principles of Marketing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course will introduce the role of marketing management<br />

in a market economy as well as in the modern organization.<br />

Students will be exposed to consumer-oriented managerial<br />

decisions regarding product planning, pricing structures,<br />

distribution channels, and promotional methods for a variety<br />

of products and services and in a range of organizational<br />

settings.<br />

Prerequisite: ECON 100, 105, or 110.<br />

MRKT 381<br />

Internship<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

The objective of this one-semester-hour course is to help<br />

the student achieve a worthwhile employment experience<br />

as part of an overall program of study in Marketing. The<br />

internship, conducted with an off-campus organization and<br />

coordinated by a department faculty member, will develop<br />

marketing skills, assist the student in tying coursework to<br />

the workplace experience, and allow the student to realize<br />

and understand better what it is that (s)he is looking for in<br />

a career.<br />

MRKT 382<br />

Marketing and Selling Travel and Tourism<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Provides an in-depth examination of travel and tourism<br />

marketing from both the supplier and destination<br />

perspectives. Case studies are extensively utilized to<br />

discuss product development, pricing management, sales<br />

strategies, service practices, promotion methods, and<br />

distribution channels, both personal and electronic.<br />

Prerequisite: MRKT 365.<br />

MRKT 445<br />

International Marketing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course will examine marketing principles and planning<br />

factors and techniques applied in a global environment.<br />

Students will develop an appreciation for the external forces<br />

which shape the international marketer’s decisions and will<br />

learn about strategies used by international firms as they<br />

successfully enter and adapt to new cultures and nations.<br />

Prerequisite: MRKT 365.<br />

MRKT 461<br />

E-Commerce Marketing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course introduces the student to e-Marketing, which<br />

refers to the use of the Internet and related technologies to<br />

adapt traditional marketing activities to suit the creation,<br />

offer, and exchange of products and services online. The<br />

focus will be on the use of emerging technologies and<br />

related ideas to enhance marketing outcomes.<br />

Prerequisite: MRKT 365.<br />

MRKT 462<br />

Perspectives on Consumption<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

This course examines the roles individuals play in society<br />

and the economy through the acts of shopping, consuming,<br />

discussing, displaying, and disposing of goods and<br />

services. In addition, the processes by which organizations<br />

conceptualize, reinforce, and exploit these roles in the<br />

marketing of goods and services will be examined.<br />

MRKT 463<br />

Entertainment Marketing<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Marketing is an essential element in the commercial<br />

success of entertainment products in the world today. Los<br />

Angeles is the center of the world’s entertainment industry.<br />

This course looks at product development, market research,<br />

distribution, and promotional methods used in the marketing<br />

of films, music, television, and new media products.<br />

Prerequisite: MRKT 365.<br />

MRKT 464<br />

International Supply Chain Management<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

A look at the front-end functions of marketing planning,<br />

logistical planning, business relationships, networking, and<br />

the marketing benefits of business collaboration inherent<br />

in the dynamic channels of distribution used in a global<br />

business environment. Note that this is the same course<br />

previously named “International Logistics.”<br />

Prerequisite: MRKT 365.
