Athletic Training Practicum III<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

Supervised experience in an athletic training environment.<br />

Additional study required with an emphasis on athletic<br />

training techniques and athletic injury management. An<br />

athletic training environment consists of any of the following<br />

sites: LMU athletic training room; local high school, college<br />

or university athletic training room; physical therapy clinic;<br />

or related health care facility.<br />

Prerequisite: NTLS 369.<br />

Senior Seminar in Athletic Training<br />

1 Semester Hour<br />

Preparation for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association<br />

Board of Certification Exam. Attention will be focused<br />

on a review of the NATA Athletic Training Educational<br />

Competencies.<br />

Lecture, 1 hour.<br />

Prerequisite: NTLS 397.<br />

Corequisite: NTLS 497.<br />

Kinesiology<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Analysis of the physics, anatomy, physiology, and psychology<br />

of movement mechanics and behavior.<br />

Prerequisites: NTLS 153 and 154.<br />

Biomechanics<br />

3 Semester Hours<br />

Identification of muscle action as related to the body’s<br />

mechanics. Understanding basic mechanical principles as<br />

they apply to human movement.<br />

Prerequisite: NTLS 480.<br />

Natural Science Teaching<br />

1-2 Semester Hours<br />

Guided teaching of undergraduate laboratories.<br />

May be repeated for credit.<br />

Requires consent of Director.<br />

Science Education Internship<br />

1-4 Semester Hours<br />

Work on a project in science education either in the<br />

elementary school or secondary school setting or at another<br />

appropriate location.<br />

Environmental Science Internship<br />

1-4 Semester Hours<br />

Work experience in the field of environmental science in a<br />

research, industry, or municipal setting.<br />

NTLS 495<br />

Physical Therapy Internship<br />

1-4 Semester Hours<br />

Work experience in physical therapy at a private facility,<br />

hospital, or athletic training facility.<br />

NTLS 496<br />

Occupational Therapy Internship<br />

1-4 Semester Hours<br />

Work experience in occupational therapy at a private facility<br />

or hospital.<br />

NTLS 497<br />

Athletic Training Internship II<br />

4 Semester Hours<br />

Supervised experience in an athletic training environment.<br />

Additional study required with an emphasis on athletic<br />

training techniques and athletic injury management.<br />

Emphasis on sport assignment and the daily working<br />

experience and duties associated with each respective<br />

team. An athletic training environment consists of any of<br />

the following sites: LMU athletic training room; local high<br />

school, college or university athletic training room; physical<br />

therapy clinic; or related health care facility.<br />
