Video Production Technology<br />
<strong>Program</strong> <strong>Description</strong>: The Video Production Technology program offers condensed,<br />
but intensive hands-on experience with industry standard equipment<br />
and processes. Students learn to work in a broadcast studio and on location.<br />
They use commercially popular analog and digital equipment and software including<br />
Betacam, DV Cam, Avid, ProTools, Photoshop and more.<br />
Students are offered basic and advanced training in scriptwriting, audio recording<br />
and mixing, electronic cinematography and lighting, producing, directing, budgeting,<br />
graphics, animation, Web media, editing and computer applications.<br />
The Video Production Technology program, guided by working professionals, is<br />
designed to prepare students to enter the job market. Graduates will be able to apply<br />
their skills in many areas of the telecommunications industry, including broadcast,<br />
cable, satellite, corporate, educational and commercial production.<br />
Degree: Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)<br />
Typical Job Opportunities:<br />
Vi d e o g r a p h e r. Employs techniques basic to the motion image process; image composition,<br />
lighting, shooting for editing.<br />
E d i t o r. Edits and electronically manipulates recorded images for video productions for<br />
commercial, broadcast, corporate and institutional media operations.<br />
Video Illustrator. Develops graphic depictions of process operations with cameras,<br />
recorders, and/or computer generated art and creates video sequences to demonstrate<br />
those processes.<br />
Production Assistant. Assists producer and/or director in varied assignments,<br />
including managing continuity, organizing catering services, notation of script<br />
revisions, teleprompter operation, set decoration, makeup, etc.<br />
After successfully completing the Video Production Technology program, the graduate<br />
will be equipped to do the following:<br />
I . Understand and apply technology and processes unique to the video production<br />
business<br />
I I . Apply skills appropriate for employment at an entry level in commercial production<br />
firms, broadcasting, corporate production facilities, etc.<br />
I I I . Complete all phases of a scripted video production, including subject matter<br />
research, script writing, shooting, editing, directing and producing<br />
I V. Operate a variety of industry specific equipment, including computers and<br />
s o f t w a r e<br />
V. Apply good resource management techniques<br />
