Students must file a written application with the director of financial aid.<br />
Priority is given to students showing academic promise. The amount varies with<br />
the individual need. The loans are awarded only as long as funds are available<br />
and on a first-come, first-served basis.<br />
SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
<strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong> awards numerous scholarships based on talent, academic achievement<br />
and/or financial need. In order to be considered for scholarships at <strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong>,<br />
you must first submit an Application for Admission and an official high school transcript<br />
or the equivalent, then submit a Scholarship Application. By submitting an Scholarship<br />
Application, you will be considered for any scholarship for which you qualify.<br />
Upon completion, Scholarship Applications must be submitted to the Financial Aid<br />
Office, along with recommendations and essays, if required. High school graduates<br />
must submit a Scholarship Letter of Recommendation Form from their high school<br />
guidance counselor, a teacher or a recognized professional person such as their<br />
employer. Returning students must submit a Scholarship Letter of Recommendation<br />
Form from their faculty advisor, a teacher or a recognized professional person such<br />
as their employer. Some scholarships may require two Letter of Recommendation<br />
Forms and a written essay. In addition, most of scholarships require that you complete<br />
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).<br />
Priority deadline for Scholarship Applications is March 15. Applications<br />
received after March 15 will be considered if funds remain available. For applications<br />
and information on specific scholarships, visit the Financial Aid Office or the<br />
Financial Aid Web site: www.pstcc.edu/departments/financial_aid.<br />
Geier African-American Scholarship for New Students<br />
Geier African-American Scholarships for New Students are one-year, $1000<br />
scholarships awarded to African-American students attending <strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />
for the first time. Applicants must submit a <strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong> Scholarship<br />
Application, along with a letter of recommendation from a high school counselor,<br />
teacher, employer or minister. Preference is given to full-time students.<br />
Applications are accepted until all funds are expended.<br />
Geier Minority Scholarships<br />
Geier Minority Scholarships are awarded to selected African-American students<br />
enrolled in eligible degree programs. In addition to a <strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />
Scholarship Application, students are required to complete the Free Application<br />
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards will be made based on unmet need.<br />
National Science Foundation Scholarship<br />
The National Science Foundation Scholarship is a program established to<br />
assist students enrolled in selected majors. Maximum scholarships are $3125 per<br />
academic year, and recipients must meet the following criteria:<br />
• Be a U.S. citizen, national or alien admitted on refugee status at time<br />
of application.<br />
• Have unmet financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal<br />
Students Aid (FAFSA).<br />
• Be accepted for admission to <strong>Pellissippi</strong> <strong>State</strong>.<br />
• Be enrolled full time in Computer Science, Computer Science Technology,<br />
Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology or Mathematics degree programs.
