NETW 1210 Windows Server 4 Credits<br />

Topics include the installation of Windows 2000, Windows XP or the most current<br />

Microsoft Windows operating system; installing, configuring, and troubleshooting access to<br />

resources; configuring and troubleshooting hardware devices and drivers; managing monitoring<br />

and optimizing system performance, reliability, and availability; managing, configuring,<br />

and troubleshooting storage use; configuring and troubleshooting Windows network connections;<br />

and implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting security. On Demand<br />

Prerequisite(s): NETW 1200 or consent of instructor<br />

NETW 1220 Administering Network Infrastructure (LAN) 4 Credits<br />

This course is designed to provide instruction in implementing and administering a<br />

Windows 2000 network infrastructure. Topics include installing, configuring, managing, monitoring,<br />

and troubleshooting DNS, WINS, network address translation, and certificate services.<br />

On Demand Prerequisite(s): NETW 1210 or consent of instructor<br />

NETW 2020 MS Windows Security 4 Credits<br />

This course provides instruction in the analysis of business requirements for resource security<br />

and the designing of security solutions in a Windows network operating system. Topics<br />

include analyzing business and security requirements and designing security solutions for<br />

Windows for access between networks and for communication channels. On Demand<br />

Prerequisite(s): NETW 1200 or consent of instructor<br />

NETW 2040 Managing a Windows Network Environment 4 Credits<br />

This course is designed for computer personnel who must install, support and manage a<br />

small Microsoft Windows network environment. The course emphasizes configuring the<br />

Microsoft Windows server operating system for a small network installation. Major topics<br />

include managing desktop environments and software with group policies; managing file<br />

resources and disks; supporting Microsoft Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and Internet<br />

Information Services; configuring remote access services (RAS); and implementing disaster<br />

protection, backup, and recovery techniques. On Demand Prerequisite(s): NETW 1210 or<br />

consent of instructor<br />

NETW 2120 Installing/Upgrading Operating Systems 4 Credits<br />

Topics include the procedures required to upgrade Microsoft Windows operating systems<br />

from one major release to the latest version, recreating existing Web sites and directory structures,<br />

and migrating applications to the new system. Also covered are the many different methods<br />

of installing and deploying operating systems. On Demand Prerequisite(s): NETW 1210<br />

or consent of instructor<br />

NETW 2800 Special Topics in Networking 1-4 Credits<br />

This course provides an avenue to present state-of-the-art technology courses in a timely<br />

manner. Content will vary, as this course is a means for classes to explore certain topics in<br />

depth not covered in the general curriculum. May be repeated for credit up to 12 hours. On<br />

Demand Prerequisite(s): Consent of instructor<br />

NETW 2900 Networking Internship 3 Credits<br />

Supervised work experience. Individual conferences are arranged instead of class attendance.<br />

On Demand Prerequisite(s): Completion of 24 hours of NETWcourses with minimum<br />

Fundamental concepts and applications of Microsoft Word for Windows for professional and/or<br />

personal use, emphasizing commonly used commands and strategies for formatting, editing and<br />

revising text. The course is created specifically to meet the Microsoft Office User Specialist<br />

<strong>Program</strong> guidelines. It is delivered through Computer Based Training materials; some basic comp<br />

u t e r-use knowledge is required. Spring and Fall P re requisite(s): O S T 1100 or equivalent<br />
