commitment to ensuring that the State’s business environment is both predictable<br />

and constantly improved to reflect the changing needs <strong>of</strong> business.<br />

• Department <strong>of</strong> Human Services – Food Section: administers legislation designed<br />

to protect the safety <strong>of</strong> food in S.A. and developing need food in conjunction with<br />

the Commonwealths and other State Governments.<br />

• South Australia Centre for Manufacturing (SACFM): <strong>of</strong>fers specialized services<br />

which meet the needs identified by S.A. industry itself as being vital to future<br />

competitiveness.<br />

• Primary Industries and Resources <strong>of</strong> South Australia (PIRSA): <strong>of</strong>fers services to<br />

the food industry i.e. technical advice, training, business management and<br />

market research.<br />

• The Business Centre: first stop for the food processing industry; provides a<br />

comprehensive range <strong>of</strong> services that focus on assisting businesses to become<br />

more competitive and pr<strong>of</strong>itable including advice, support from client managers<br />

and business advisors, access to Government programs, and skills development.<br />

• South Australian Research & Development Institute (SARDI): conducts<br />

innovation and practical research in the areas <strong>of</strong> agribusiness, commercial<br />

enterprise, manufacturing/processing industries, primary industries agriculture,<br />

aquaculture, and fishing.<br />

• Department <strong>of</strong> Education, Training and Employment: provides vocational<br />

education and training through its TAFE Institutes, and through over 500<br />

registered non-government providers.<br />

• Transport South Australia: support for the efficient freight movement <strong>of</strong> food<br />

exports.<br />
