10-B-1. c. When resale functions are conducted by MWR, the following<br />

provisions apply:<br />

(1) No type of merchandise may be sold in the continental<br />

United States that is not an authorized item for Coast<br />

Guard exchanges as listed in Comptroller Manual,<br />

Volume VII, Non-appropriated Fund Activities Manual<br />

(COMDTINST M7010.5 (series));<br />

(2) rrices of comparable merchandise should be in line with<br />

Coast Guard exchange prices; and<br />

(3) ali sales shall be on a cash and carry basis.<br />

d. Except for vending machines, resale operations will not be<br />

operated by MWR on afloat units.<br />

2. Report of Existence of Hazardous Resale Merchandise.<br />

a. M!JR activities which have knowledge of, or which have received<br />

notification from an official source (Food and Drug<br />

Administration, Department of Agriculture, vendor, manufacturer,<br />

or other reliable source), of the existence or suspected existence<br />

of hazardous resale merchandise in MWR activities will immediately<br />

communicate this fat t to the Commandant (G-P). The following<br />

information should be provided:<br />

(1) Activity reporting;<br />

(2) nomenclature of resale merchandise items suspected to be<br />

hazardous;<br />

(3) source of information and/or basis of determination that<br />

product is considered hazardous or contaminated;<br />

(4) item description;<br />

(5) contractor/manufar+ LLurer (include plant address if known);<br />

(6) lot number (from case or unit) (can codes if available} and/or<br />

shipment number;<br />

(7) vendor name;<br />

(8) date of shipment and da:e of receipt;<br />

(9) quantity on hand; and<br />

(10) description of suspected hazardous or contaminated condition.<br />

b. Upon receipt of notification of the existence or suspected<br />

existence of hazardous resale merchandise, Commandant (G-P) will<br />

issue appropriate instructions to MWR activities. In those cases<br />

where Comiandant (G-P) determines that a potential danger exists<br />

to o:her military consumers and commands, appropriate<br />

correspondence will be initiated to relay the essential<br />

infcrr~~tio~~.<br />
