162 <strong>MFG</strong>/<strong>PRO</strong> USER GUIDE — MANUFACTURING Table 8.1 Transferring WIP Cumulative Order Close Use Cumulative Order Close (18.22.10) to select unclosed cumulative orders according to various criteria. You can optionally create successive cumulative orders and transfer WIP queue balances to them. Cumulative orders must have an End Effective date on or before the End Effective value you enter. Orders with a blank End Effective date will not be selected. Note To close orders with blank End Effective dates, first enter an End Effective date using Cumulative Order Maintenance (18.22.6). Closing a cumulative order performs the same processing as the Post Accumulated Usage Variances transaction. Variances are calculated, posted, and reported. If the Transfer WIP field is Yes in the Repetitive Control File, WIP queue balances are transferred. To close a cumulative order before its end effective date, use Cumulative Order Maintenance to set the end effective date to yesterday’s date. The system creates a new cumulative order for the balance of the period if the End Eff Default Method is set to 1 or 2 in the Repetitive Control File (18.22.24). Transferring WIP To transfer WIP, enter the data in Cumulative Order Close. The system finds a cumulative order for the site, item, production line, routing, and product structure code with an effective date range immediately following the End Effective date entered. If Then There is a cumulative order, and it is not closed, it receives the WIP quantities of the cumulative order being closed. There is a cumulative order, but it is closed, it does not transfer. There is no cumulative order, it creates a new one to which WIP is transferred.
Processing Steps Cumulative Order Close follows these steps. Old Cumulative Order For each operation in the cumulative order being closed. 1 The system posts the value of the WIP queue inventory to scrap or the WIP transfer account specified in the Repetitive Control File. 2 The system records the posting event by creating an operation history record of type Close. 3 The cumulative order is flagged closed. New Cumulative Order If Transfer WIP is Yes, the system transfers WIP balances. 1 The system looks for an operation in the receiving order with the same number as this operation. If there is one, it proceeds with the transfer. Otherwise, it ignores this operation, and does not transfer the WIP. 2 If this operation is not the first operation, and the same operation in the receiving order is the first operation, the system ignores this operation, and does not transfer WIP. 3 The system adds the WIP queue quantities in this operation to the WIP begin queue balance quantities in the receiving order operation. 4 The system records the transfer by creating an operation history record of type Transfer. 5 The system reinstates the WIP value by debiting the new cumulative order WIP account, and crediting the old cumulative order scrap account, or the WIP transfer account specified in the Repetitive Control File. 6 If the cost of the WIP queue inventory at this operation is different from the cost of the receiving operation, the system calculates and posts the differences to Method Change Variance.
