Bishop’s Castle and Montgomery Railway (Abandonment) Act 1887<br />

9.163 The Bishop’s Castle and Montgomery Railway (Abandonment) Act 1887 322 was<br />

passed to authorise the Bishop’s Castle and Montgomery Railway Company to<br />

abandon a proposed railway between Montgomery (Powys) and Lydham<br />

(Shropshire). The railway had been authorised by the Bishop’s Castle and<br />

Montgomery Railway Act 1884. 323 The abandonment <strong>of</strong> the railway project,<br />

together with the dissolution <strong>of</strong> the company pursuant to the 1887 Act, means<br />

that the 1887 Act itself has now become obsolete.<br />

Merionethshire Railway (Abandonment) Act 1887<br />

9.164 The Merionethshire Railway (Abandonment) Act 1887 324 was passed to authorise<br />

the Merionethshire Railway Company to abandon a proposed railway between<br />

Ffestiniog and Llandecwyn in Caernarfonshire. The railway had been authorised<br />

by the Merionethshire Railway Act 1871. 325 Lack <strong>of</strong> available finance, however,<br />

had made it impossible to construct the railway. The abandonment <strong>of</strong> the railway<br />

project, together with the dissolution <strong>of</strong> the company pursuant to the 1887 Act,<br />

means that the 1887 Act itself has now become obsolete.<br />

Billinghay and Metheringham (Light) Railway (Abandonment) Act 1888<br />

9.165 The Billinghay and Metheringham (Light) Railway (Abandonment) Act 1888 326<br />

was passed to authorise the Billinghay and Metheringham (Light) Railway<br />

Company to abandon a proposed railway in Lincolnshire. The railway had been<br />

authorised by the Billinghay and Metheringham Light Railway Act 1883. 327 The<br />

abandonment <strong>of</strong> the railway project, together with the dissolution <strong>of</strong> the company<br />

pursuant to the 1888 Act, means that the 1888 Act itself has now become<br />

obsolete.<br />

Isle <strong>of</strong> Axholme Railway (Abandonment) Act 1888<br />

9.166 The Isle <strong>of</strong> Axholme Railway (Abandonment) Act 1888 328 was passed to<br />

authorise the Isle <strong>of</strong> Axholme Railway Company to abandon a proposed railway<br />

in Lincolnshire from Haxey to Crowle. The railway had been authorised by the<br />

Isle <strong>of</strong> Axholme Railway Act 1885. 329 The abandonment <strong>of</strong> the railway project,<br />

together with the dissolution <strong>of</strong> the company pursuant to the 1888 Act, means<br />

that the 1888 Act itself has now become obsolete.<br />
